Many of these markers have been gleaned from Sussex manors, advowsons, etc., recorded in the Feet of fines, Henry VIII. to William IV. (1509-1833) (1914, Ed. HW Dunkin) [vol. I, vol. II]. It should be noted that this source does not track the ownership of individual tenments, only the ownership of major feudal holdings such as manors and advowsons. Only a fraction of the information from this source has been incorporated into the map.

A Fulco de Morle flourished in Sussex about 1150 [Edmund Cartwright, Bramber Parochial Topography, vol. II part 2, 1930, p. 224; Sussex Archaeological Collections, vol VI, p. 81].

  • 1530: transferred (with wife Rose) Bonnetts to John Nynne/Nynde (alias Barber) and Joan his wife
  • perhaps ancestors of John Morley of Rotherfield whose will was dated 1608/9.
